Gear manufacturing capability
Ondrives combines CNC machining, gear cutting, gear grinding, specialist bevel gear systems and analytical inspection. This allows the manufacturing route to be selected around geometry, material condition, accuracy, quantity and the functional requirements of the component.
Cylindrical gears
Spur, helical and related cylindrical gear forms for standard and bespoke applications.
Bevel gearing
Spiral bevel, hypoid and high-ratio hypoid work using specialist Gleason systems.
Geared components
Pinions, geared shafts and compound components where the teeth are one feature of a larger precision-machined part.
From drawing to inspected component
A typical project starts with a drawing, model, existing component or engineering requirement. Planning then considers blank machining, datum strategy, tooth generation, heat-treatment allowance where applicable, finishing and inspection.
Engineering review
Check geometry, tolerances, materials, datums and the intended manufacturing route.
Manufacture
Coordinate CNC machining and gear manufacture so bearing features, bores and gear teeth remain related.
Inspection
Use gear inspection, CMM and optical measurement as appropriate to the drawing.
Gear quality and repeatability
Ondrives' published manufacturing capability includes work to recognised ISO and DIN gear-quality systems. The required standard and grade should be stated on the drawing, together with any profile, lead, pitch, runout or reporting requirements.
