Family owned and run business Ondrives Ltd, takes pride in its history dating back to 1976, when the company was first set up as a gear manufacturer and led to the now famous red anodised gearboxes, unique to Ondrives.

These gearboxes include worm wheel designs, helical, spur, bevel and planetary types and with a sound base of technical know-how and production have enabled serious development over the years in the product design.  Providing application solutions in conjunction with customers in terms of achieving sometimes very challenging and complex specifications has ensured Ondrives success with specials such as gearboxes capable of operating at temperatures as low as -50ºC, ingenious engagement devices and other applications such as very small space envelopes only Ondrives gear reducers can fit into.

Specifically over the past 10 years, Ondrives have driven forward into supplying ever more unique and specialised products that fill customer’s needs whilst developing new ideas.  The latest product portfolio is the precision gear product range which has been manufactured using the ultra precision Swiss CNC gear machines (Gleason-Pfauter), gear making equipment and gear tools recently purchased to ensure the highest quality end product as well as quicker downtimes to meet customer’s just-in-time requirements.  These machines are normally only used in higher end aerospace critical gearing, but investment by Ondrives in these units ensures the benefit of this technology is passed onto all customers.  They also specifically improve noise and ensure smooth gear motion.

As a manufacturer, it is important that Ondrives have invested in other key areas such as CMM measuring devices and 3D Solidworks® CAD along with experienced technical personnel to project manage customer led applications.  Refining and designing new products such as bearing housings, gearboxes and other precision gear ranges are continually ongoing in order to bring customers the very best products and services Ondrives can offer.
